Help! I'm addicted to Comet, Kit Kat's and Toilet Paper

Dear Readers,
OMG! What a world we live in. Just when you though reality TV had done it all. In swoops TLC to prove we all love to see others struggle. Last night I shut down my laptop early just so I could catch the premiere of the new TLC show Strange Addictions. When they said strange addictions they weren't kidding. One of the first women profiled on the show that is addicted to eating toilet paper, nearly 150 sheets per day. She even consumed her 2ply snack while out to lunch with her sister. Turns out she has been eating TP since she was a child. Just like any other addict she failed to see the seriousness of her addiction even after a healthcare professional warned her that her snack attacks could prove fatal. The second story I found to be less interesting, it profiled a woman in her early thirties who is addicted to sleeping with her hair dyer, strange but true. She however by the shows end showed promise of halting her foolish ways. The second episode for me was less appealing in fact I found it be a tad moronic. The first woman is a professional body builder who claims she's addicted to her workouts at the gym. I would have to agree spending six hours a day pumping iron is a bit extreme but stranger things have happened. As for the girl who is 24 and addicted to sucking her thumb I say good luck being taken seriously on Wall Street. Give up the thumb, perhaps try a Jolly Rancher. The boys are more likely to kiss you goodnight if you smell more like green apple and less like a spit soaked baby blanket. I can't wait until next week, the woman being profiled is addicted to eating household cleaners. Get the popcorn ready and tune in.

PS For the record I am currently seeking help for my addiction to Kit Kat bars.

Just another dent in the sofa...

Dear Readers,(All two you).
In keeping with the theme of today let us now take a moment to reflect on the days events. I awoke this morning full of promise in hopes of truly putting forth an honest effort to join the productive members of society. My attempt was short lived. Half way through my morning cup of coffee, while searching through all 12 of my local newspaper's want ads I discovered that unless I am certified to help the mentally ill or can operate a boiler I'm outta luck. Thus here I sit just another dent in the sofa. However not all has been lost. At the start of this blog there was just I, and now there is You. Further reflection reveals one must always remember to take hold of every silver lining no matter how slight it may be.

Word of the day: Reflection

Hello All,
A wise professor taught me that once a journey has come to an end it is important to look back and reflect on what you have learned throughout the process. With that in mind I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my journey thus far and how it was that I came to be here with you all on Baxter Ave. As I bid farewell to another season of cheesy cards, ugly sweaters, and a ton of empty calories so began my reality. Life as I had known it for the past five years was over. I was no longer a college kid(not that I ever really was) on vacation. My days of writing  short stories and poems for grades and gold stars were finished or so I thought. In my quest to find something to do with all of my newly acquired free time I set out to find an outlet for my restless energy. I had done the dishes, mopped the floor, fluffed and re fluffed my tossed pillows, and I had even scoured the bathroom all before lunch. No folks I'm not an over achiever I was just really that bored. I sat on the sofa and pondered what it was I was going to with the remaining hours of my day. With nothing much to hold my interest on the ol' tube I went in search of  "busy work" via the inter web. Once I crept all 300 or so of my nearest and dearest "friends" on facebook, I tweeted on twitter, and scouted out Grad schools online. Not as productive as I'd hoped but upon reflection of the past few days I'd say I  can at the very least take pride in that I have at created a place where I can write until content only to find I am the only reading it. :)

Welcome Friends

First and foremost I'd like to thank you all for stopping in to visit me here on Baxter Ave. Here is where you will be given full disclosure into my world. At the moment I am a newly crowned thirty something college grad working to find my way through this vast ocean of economic down turn. I recently earned my BA in English/Creative Writing, but truly my passion is Public/Media Relations. I currently reside in northern Maine where sadly potato fields and pageant queens outweigh opportunity. I am a city girl who crash landed in Podunk a few years ago. In the future I hope to earn a modest living doing what I love the most, writing.

I have traded in the disappointment of dismal weekly want ads in search of greener pastures. Tune in and join me on my journey of creative self expression and cheer me on in my quest to become gainfully employed.
